I love naturalistic planting schemes juxtaposed with clean lines of topiary. Encouraging wildlife and sensitivity to the garden’s location is key. We use local materials, crafts and nurseries. I always aim for a soft intervention, reclaiming, reusing and repurposing where I can.
Having been on the tools myself for 15 years, I understand the complexities of the build and construction and I am conscious of the costs involved.
Getting a design is a financial commitment, but in the long term it will save you money and give you the well thought out, planned and gorgeous garden that you have always dreamed of.
I can design your garden and I will explore commissions from small courtyards through to large estates.
I hope you will find that my portfolio speaks for itself.
“An inspiring project and embrace of nature. A stunning outcome.” APL Judges Comments

“Our garden designed and built by Tom and his team is a place of tranquility, beauty and a family place to relax. Tom brought the countryside into our magical country cottage garden and we absolutely love it!”
Deborah & Jonathan
“His intelligent planting, meandering red brick paths, olive trees in impressive oak planters on the adjoining patio, and care to take into consideration the surrounding views created just the pretty garden I wanted. Thanks Tom!”
WHAT WE DO
We believe in classy, timeless and elegant gardens. We believe that patience is a virtue and that your garden will grow with you. We want to spend the time with you and your garden to get the very best from it. We believe that the client is an equal creative individual in the design and gardening process. Whether you have a full-blown artistic vision, an inkling of a theme or simply a one-off feature in mind, we will work with you to transform your garden.
The design process entails:
An initial consultation followed by a return visit to discuss the project in more depth. We will discuss your gardening vision and you can gain inspiration from our vibrant mood boards and portfolio. A design proposal will be sent following our meeting which outlines our ideas for your project and design fees.
If we are commissioned to undertake your design a full garden survey is then undertaken. Sometimes an independent company may be required to undertake a topological survey of the site. We undertake the surveys of simpler sites.
The creative bit then ensues where your garden design will be put together. This includes a CAD top plan, 3D images and construction drawings where relevant.
The moment you’ve been waiting for – a design presentation meeting is arranged.
A comprehensive quote accompanies the design.
We will tweak the design with your input before agreeing on the final plan.
Design fees start from £2000 + VAT. This includes – usually 2-4 meetings on site, an annotated top plan, planting plan and planting schedule. Our stunning 3D illustrations are an additional cost starting at £600 + VAT. Standalone planting plans start at £500 +VAT. Printed and electronic plans are provided. Our plans can be used for planning purposes.
Meet my recommended landscapers who will quote on the hard landscaping. These individuals have worked with me for 7 years and know and understand the quality, feel and care I expect.
You may just want a planting design for your existing garden space; a whole new look; or a newly themed area. We will work with an abundance of colour and texture to come up with vibrant planting schemes ensuring all year round interest and intrigue. We advocate planting for biodiversity. This service can include a maintenance schedule.
PLANT SOURCING | BED PREPARATION | DIGGING IN
Further to designing and sourcing the plants we will dig them all in with the help from our carefully considered nurseries whom we have built up great relationships with over the years.
Improving Your Soil
Vitally important is making sure the soil has been tested and prepared before planting – this will determine what plants will grow successfully. Improving your soil depends whether its clay, silt or sandy. Generally the best way to improve your soil is to incorporate compost or organic matter (manure) year on year. In some cases it may require you to wait a season or two before planting is suitable. Please do call if you require manure or compost for improving you soil.
Sowing meadows, helping them establish alongside maintaining them is one my favourite jobs. They are hugely rich in life, low maintenace once established and bring a lot of joy. Ive sowed perennial and annual meadows as well as laid wildflower turf.
Tom creates gardens because he is convinced that good design can fundamentally transform and enhance lives. A fine artist, he recognises the importance of an inspired creative vision.
Having grown up in Bath he has a deep appreciation for the local architecture and historic gardens. Tom was fortunate enough to work under the internationally renowned garden designers Julian and Isabelle Bannerman (www.bannermandesign.com), on a large Wiltshire estate. He then went on to study Landscape Design & Construction at the highly respected Capel Manor College, followed by stints at Buckingham Palace and Clarence House gardens. He was then a foreman at a leading Brighton garden design company before setting up Eaglestone Landscape Design in 2007.
Tom has an array of experience spanning an impressive holistic knowledge of plants, project management, the design of complex gardens and clever solutions for small spaces!
WORKING WITH TOM
Considered sustainable ecological design
We take great pride in our design process and presentation throughout the project.
We only use reputable suppliers with whom we have built up trust. We use locally sourced where possible.
Many of our planting schemes are based on the principles of sustainability, drought tolerant and low maintenance. I design vibrant naturalistic planting schemes for small and large gardens.
Garden For Nature
Our gardens are always designed, built and maintained for nature.
I always try to encourage more tree planting for obvious reasons. The most obvious being that trees are simply the best!
Always aiming to reuse, reclaim and have as light as touch as possible. Bringing wildlife more wildlife into your garden is our ambition.

Considered Sustainable Garden Design
– Est. 2007 –
Here are some of my favourite plant nurseries I’ve visited and use to source plants.
Located in and around Bath
Arvensis Perennials – Gussy & Rob’s nursery is without doubt my favourite nursery. They are also lovely people. They supply top quality and peat free perennials.
Downside Nursery – Family run nursery located near Bradford on Avon.
Prior Park Garden Centre – Great garden centre in central Bath.
Special Plants – Hardy perennials, tender perennials and rockery plants. Extensive seed list. Derry runs garden courses there too. Absolutely stunning garden located in a beautiful valley just outside Bath.
West Kington Nurseries – Wholesalers near Bath. I love this place for the sheer scale and range of plants.
